Great idea how to lighten up your walls. You should install ground lights near the surface of wall. Then focus the lights to upper part of the wall. If the ground lights are placed correctly near the wall, most of the wall surface should be slightly lightened up. The best results will come out when you use colored lights. Blue for example suits for most of the cases. But experiment around with different colors.
